WD Gann’s Perspective on Astrology and Natural Laws

Many traders are interested in Gann’s connection to Astrology and Markets, but some believe Gann used something other than traditional Astrology in his trading. Astrology was a significant part of Gann’s mysterious work. Gann believed that stars and planets influence markets in a powerful way.

A dilemma arose for Astrology lovers when Mr Gann, in his 1919 interview, said, “That is why astrology fails; nothing can be accurate that is not based on mathematics – and so few astrologers are mathematicians.”

Even though Mr Gann claimed that “Astrology does not work,” he maintained and used Raphael’s Ephemeris as a guide for him throughout his life. In fact, he left many notes on the ephemeris, indicating that he used it actively.

WD Gann’s love for Astrology was unquestionable. But there was something more valuable than Astrology that Gann preferred over Astrology, and he kept Astrology as a supplement.

So, what was Gann’s preference over Astrology?

WD Gann believed Natural laws were far more useful than Astrology. In the same 1919 interview, Gann also spoke about Natural laws.

The following is what WD Gann said about natural laws in his 1919 interview:

“An astronomer can predict to the minute when an eclipse is going to occur, but you would not consider him a prophet, would you? Of course not. He simply makes use of mathematics based on known laws of the movements of the planets in their orbits.

I have found in my research that the Chinese understood all those laws and computed the coming of eclipses thousands of years before the Egyptians and Chaldeans. It is marvellous the knowledge that these ancients had. In making my predictions, I use geometry and mathematics just as an astronomer does, based on the immutable laws that I have discovered. There is nothing supernatural or weird about it.”

The planets’ vibrations contain a lot of information. However, the Laws of Nature must also be considered in order to make accurate predictions.

King Solomon

Ancient masters understood these natural laws but did not intentionally document them in their writings to keep them secret.

That has caused much confusion in the modern era, as it is difficult to make accurate predictions without access to these natural laws. Therefore, it is essential to remember that while the vibrations of the planets can give us insight, they must be interpreted in the context of nature’s laws to be meaningful.

Based on my research on Gann’s papers, I believe Gann was trying to find raw information in an ephemeris that he could carry around and apply to his formulas. But, Gann used that data quite differently from what was common among astrologers of his day.-Divesh
